I am working on developing a teaching philosophy. I have ideas of what I would write based on the kind of TA I was in grad school. But I haven’t really put pen to paper yet to solidify these ideas. I did have a draft at one point but I hated it. So enjoy this fabulous bulleted list for now!

As I teacher I believe that

• No student is “bad at science”
• I am a mentor, a guide, and there to help
• Providing clear structure and boundaries allows for students to thrive

My methods include

• Using multiple modalities to teach the material
• Peer collaboration, e.g. explaining concepts to each other before I do
• Using labs and simulations to connect with abstract concepts

Other

• Strive to reflect and improve my skills
• Students will leave my class feeling confident in their problem solving skills
• I have a unique perspective due to my time in industry
