Something you’ll learn about me is that when I get an idea I run with it. Often the cart is leading the horse though. I mean the cart is at least one light year ahead of the horse.

However this ambition has always served me well. I get the end goal in mind then I back up and figure out how to get there. And with shear stubbornness I’ll get there.

When I realized I wanted to become a teacher the first thing I did was create a syllabus. Now I didn’t reinvent the telescope or anything. The lesson topics themselves are straight from Google, but it was the process that served me as a starting point. The process of formatting, figuring out grade distribution, and what all goes in to a syllabus anyways!?

From there I backed up and figured out what it takes to become a teacher in my home state, and that’s what I’m doing now. But until then… please enjoy the first ever attempt at an astronomy 101 syllabus from Dicy Adams!

Dicy Adams holds Bachelor’s Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Physics & Astronomy. She is an astronomer turned data scientist turned aspiring high school educator.
